Your space, your choices
Privacy at Roombeam.
Last updated: 13 October 2026 · Pre-release service information
Roombeam does not require an account. There are no ads. Usage analytics and crash reporting start off, and location access is optional.
Roombeam is operated by Brry Dijital Teknoloji Anonim Sirketi (“Brry”, “we”). Contact info@brry.co about this policy or a privacy request. This page describes Roombeam’s current implementation and the services intended for its Mac App Store release. Availability may differ in development builds.
What stays on your Mac
Room preferences, curtain positions, your selected city, decoration choices and weather caches are stored locally. Roombeam does not scan or upload desktop file contents. Any personal images retained from a development build remain local; the release interface offers an included painting collection. Removing the app may leave its sandbox data and Keychain records on your Mac.
Trial, purchases and complimentary access
Apple handles trial activation and payments. Roombeam uses verified Apple transactions to determine access and does not receive payment-card information. A timestamp in the macOS Keychain helps prevent clock changes from extending the trial and may remain after reinstalling. Restoring purchases contacts Apple.
RevenueCat receives purchase records, an anonymous customer ID, app/device information and connection metadata to validate entitlements, report revenue and support purchases or complimentary access. A support ID lets us find a grant you request. RevenueCat may infer a country from the connection IP address. Roombeam’s optional analytics identifier is separate from that support ID.
Optional usage analytics
If you turn on Share basic usage, PostHog receives selected onboarding, purchase-flow and room-usage events, timestamps, a random installation identifier, app version/build and elapsed time a room is enabled. Room-enabled time does not measure your attention. We do not send desktop contents, images, your city, screen recordings or automatic UI captures.
The PostHog project is in the US. IP geolocation enrichment is disabled, and the project is configured to remove IP addresses from stored events. Network infrastructure still receives connection metadata. Turning analytics off stops new collection and resets the installation identifier; it does not erase events already received.
Optional crash reports
If you turn on Share crash reports, Sentry receives technical crash information, code stack traces, app/OS/device information and app version/build. The Sentry project is in the US. Roombeam disables screenshots, session recording, user fields, automatic breadcrumbs and network tracing. It removes free-form messages, exception descriptions, extra values and local directory paths before sending. Code addresses and debug image identifiers remain so we can locate faults in our code. Turning this off stops new collection; it does not erase reports already received.
Weather and location
Custom atmosphere works offline. Roombeam uses Apple WeatherKit for Live forecasts and Apple geocoding for city search. City search sends your query to Apple. Live atmosphere sends your selected city’s coordinates directly to Apple while the room or its controls are active, normally refreshing about every 15 minutes. These requests do not pass through Roombeam’s website or a Brry weather relay. Apple also receives connection information necessary to provide the service. Weather data is adapted into artistic scenery and is not safety advice.
Use my location is an optional, one-time lookup. Roombeam rounds your device coordinates to one decimal degree before asking Apple for a nearby city. The city name is then used in Apple city search. Raw device coordinates are not saved or sent for forecasts. There is no background location tracking, and you confirm a city before it is saved.
Use Custom mode to stop Live requests. City search still contacts Apple when used. Hiding the room and closing its controls suspends active weather polling. Quitting stops the app’s activity. Apple services may process data internationally; this is not a guarantee of US-only processing.
Support and this website
Report a problem opens an editable email draft containing the app/macOS version and support ID. You decide what to include and whether to send it. Email is processed by our email service. Please don’t send passwords or payment-card details.
This website uses no advertising, analytics scripts or cookies set by Roombeam. This site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes connection information needed to serve and protect the pages.
Purpose, retention and your choices
We process purchase information to provide purchased access, support communications to respond to you, and technical service information to operate and protect Roombeam. Optional diagnostics and analytics are collected only when you enable them. Depending on applicable law and the processing involved, our basis is consent, providing the service you request, legitimate operational interests or legal obligations.
Local data remains until you remove it. The selected city’s forecast is cached temporarily on your Mac, no longer than Apple’s supplied expiry or one hour, whichever comes first. Expired forecasts are not used and are removed when the app next checks its cache; simulated Custom atmosphere remains available offline. Provider records and support correspondence may remain for service operations, support, security or legal obligations. Contact us to request access, correction or deletion; available rights depend on your location. Purchase records Apple must retain cannot be erased by resetting Roombeam.
We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising. Providers may process data internationally. See Apple, RevenueCat, PostHog, Sentry, Cloudflare for their privacy information.
